Our Program

The early years are the most crucial ones for children's development. They are growing and learning at a phenomenal pace, and they learn best in an environment that is bubbling with excitement and is secure. Happy Hearts Preschool has been conceptualized with the philosophy of providing young children a stimulating and cheerful environment aimed at fostering physical motor development, intellectual growth, socio-emotional skills, languages proficiency and self-reliance. Our play-based and child-centred values reflect in our curriculum and lay secure foundation for future development and success of young children.

Integrated Curriculum

The folly of present day education is compartmentalizing learning into airtight syllabi. At Happy Hearts, an art class incorporates formal concepts, a math class happily turns into language activity and an outdoor game or a rhyme session spontaneously carries children into the world of science. The topics covered in the regular periods are touched upon regularly in every activity built around themes like air, animals or a specific season.

Inclusion of Children with Special Needs

“All children are special and all children have potential; though their pace and strengths may vary”. With this guiding philosophy, Happy Hearts makes conscious efforts to reach out to children with special needs with the objective of mainstreaming them. A child with intellectual, behavioural or socio-economic disadvantage is given the necessary support and intervention under expert guidance. Major focus is on empowering the family to meet the challenge with a positive attitude. With continuous efforts to sensitise the community regarding the need to educate children with special needs with realistic goals to match their abilities, Happy Hearts has made a very special place for itself within the community.

Nurturing Scientists

Science is all around us and what better way to explain science than using experiments. The great Chinese philosopher Confucius said “I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand”. At Happy Hearts, we believe in learning by doing. It is no wonder that Happy Heartians are always busy exploring their surroundings.

Whether it is figuring out the process of evaporation and condensation, or the properties of air, hazardous effects of pollution from vehicles or process of seed germination; the children learn with hands on experiments. We believe that children should have an inquisitive mind and should raise questions and what fun it is to combine science with craft, have fun and learn in the process.

Educating through Physical Activities

A healthy mind resides in a healthy body and our children sure are happy and healthy children and what better way than Yoga for a healthy living. It fosters team work and collaboration. Children listen to instructions carefully and follow, taking care to move and work as a team. Breathing exercises, pranayama and simple yogasanas as appropriate for different age groups are planned and executed under expert guidance. Apart from yoga exercises, children paint insects with thumb prints and mould clay to shape different objects. These physical motor activities help Happy Heartians not only to stay physically fit but also to use exercise to enhance social and intellectual skills.

On Diwali, the students and teachers happily decorated the premises with a mega Rangoli. Thisnot only provided an experience in festival celebration but more significantly gave preciousopportunity to learn to work as a team wherein the children fitted their design into each otherscreations, simultaneously maintaining their unique individuality. Team work in school isincomplete without partnering with parents thus mothers were invited to play music and singsongs and participated whole heartedly.

Functions and Celebrations

The school lays emphasis on celebrating all the festivals and special days, be it religious or national, inorder to create awareness among the young generation about their traditions and culture. In accordance with the NEP 2020, the school takes due care to help children stay connected to their roots. All the special days and celebrations are given due importance and not only the children but their parents are also involved. Some of the festivals that the school regularly celebrates are Diwali, Holi, Teej, Baisakhi, Christmas, Children’s day, Mother’s Day, Independence and Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanti, etc.

Building Social Responsibility

At Happy Hearts, we nurture our children to stand up for their right, voice their opinion against the ill practices that are prevalent in the society and sensitize the general public about social issues. The school encourages the students to think about important public issues, raise awareness among the masses by way of presentations on topics of national significance such as gender equality, menace of public defecation, banning the use of plastic and बेटी बचाओ, बेटी पढ़ाओ. In addition, rallies on Road Safety and Election/ voting and celebrations like World Unity Day, Earth Day are an integral part of the school curriculum.

Competition and Collaboration

Happy Heartiens regularly push their boundaries to keep learning new skills. The most wonderful example of this was the formation of ‘rakhi’ in the school lawns where all the children got together into a formation which resembled the sacred ‘rakhi’ using different yogic postures. It was indeed a treat to the eyes to see 120 children celebrate the festival of rakshabandhan in a unique way – a mind blowing display of physical activity in collaboration with each other. While we inculcate the spirit of competition, we feel that competition and collaboration go hand in hand. It is important for children to work as a support to fellow mates and feel the joy as a team.

Teacher Training and Skill Building

A continuous effort is made to improvise teachers’ skills for which the school organizes workshops for the teachers where a resource person is invited to share teaching learning practices with children. Not only this, our teachers continue to hone their interpersonal skills throughout the year as they exchange ideas, discuss problems and find solutions after the school hours.

Updating Facilities

Children’s security is the top priority at Happy Hearts. The school is equipped with state-of-the art CCTV cameras to help monitor the activities happening inside the school premises. The school also provides safe and secure transport facilities to its students. To further ensure the safety of the students, the school also issues I cards and Receiving Cards for parents to collect their wards.

BALA: Building As Learning Aid

BALA is the creative use of the school building to teach subtraction, odd/ even numbers, place value, punctuation symbols in English language or हिंदी अक्षर ज्ञान. Teachers at Happy Hearts put their heart and soul not only into teaching but also making sure that children always get something new and exciting in their environment. Columns at the roof top have been used as coloured dice, the stairway is the abacus where children learn addition / subtraction/ division and multiplication or see and talk about the planets in the galaxy. In the auditorium, the tiles turn into chess board or Stapu (hopscotch) or whatever else takes children’s fancy. The objective is to engage children and by surrounding them with knowledge in informal and interesting manner; thus making learning fun.
